Chemical Warfare

So, according to the Daily Mail, My Chemical Romance are the leaders of a dangerous cult that you may have heard of called ‘Emo’, which is a sub-cult of ‘Goth’ and involves cutting yourself and showing off about it to your friends, or something.
So it’s probably going to be a bit mystifying to them that the band should have taken the time to write a song specifically about the way guns are spoiling teenage lives in America. And not because they just can’t get the right colour of bullets either.
Newly-blonded singer Gerard Way has been telling the NME about their new song ‘Teenagers’, which is inspired by the rise and rise of gun crime in the US.
He said: “That song almost didn’t fit on the record but it’s a topic that’s so important to our culture. It’s about a really big problem in America where kids are killing kids. The only thing I learnt in high school is that people are very violent and territorial.”
See, and you thought having two history lessons back-to-back was bad…
