Some in-studio pics

Hey all! Hope everyone is good. Quick update on the happenings here in MCR land.
We’re almost done tracking the record, and then moving on to mixing. This process has been really different and enlightening. When we went to Tokyo for the Summersonic shows, we came back recharged and remotivated, wanting to better what we had done before we left. What resulted was us writing some of our best songs on the record. Lesson learned? Sometimes you have to step back to get to the real heart of things…
Photo-shoot today, and damn’t none of my old clothes fit! Either time to go shopping, or time to hit a gym. Neither are choices I like…
Mine and Christa’s dog Bauer, who I posted a picture of a few weeks ago, has been diagnosed with CRF – chronic renal failure – which is insane for a dog his age. He’s three, and very sick. Unfortunately, its something that you wouldn’t pick up on until its too late. We decided to bring him back home to Jersey where he can run in the grass and play, and luckily that seems to be making him feel better. The doctors out here are surprised at how well he looks considering the severity of his condition. He’s a tough little guy.
Putting some pictures up from in studio. Enjoy!

Tracking continues…
posted by Ray on Jun 22, 2009 5:29pm

After a few days of tracking guitars and bass, G has moved on to vocals for a few songs. Everything is turning out great. Me, Frank, Tom the engineer, and Peter and Kevin, the assistants, spent a few late nights getting great tones and having a lot of fun playing.
While G is doing vocals, me and Mikey are watching Frank play Fallout 3. He somehow ended up completely by accident creating a character who looks exactly like the guy who played Truman Capote in the movie that WASN’T “Capote.” I’ve attached a picture of him…
I think Frank is about to smash some guy’s head in with a tire iron…

Exclusive! Gerard Way to direct comic book movie?
From Kerrang!
My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has exclusively revealed to Kerrang! that he’s in talks with Universal about turning his graphic novel series The Umbrella Academy into a film.
“There’s been a lot of progress on it,” Way tells K!. “Things in Hollywood move slow typically, but the comic was optioned as a film right before the San Diego Comic Convention last July. As soon as I got home from that I started meeting people at Universal and the film got fast-tracked and so recently I’ve been in talking to them about three times a week, first talking about the tone the film might have and then talking about screen writers who are going to work very closely with me when it comes time to do the film.”
As creator of The Umbrella Academy, Way has also hinted that directing is something he’d like to turn his hand to in the future.
“Directing is something I’d be really interested in,” he says. “People ask me if I would act, but acting to me is not nearly as exciting as directing would be. When I was talking to [video director] Mark Webb about the Ghost Of You video I was talking about the idea and I broke it down into shots and he’d said ‘You should really consider making your own videos eventually’. And I think that making videos would be fun and easy, but I’d definitely be interested in directing features. After this record cycle I’d be really interested in trying something like that.”
