Hey guys,

Gerard here… I’m hanging out with Mikey in New Jersey, relaxing, drinking coffee, talking comics, and getting ready to take a drive down south tomorrow. I don’t know what states I’m passing through but I know where I’m heading. Don’t worry, I’ve got a the Clockwork Orange audiobook, a Dr. Pepper air-freshener, and a GPS so I don’t get lost. We figured by now everyone that’s a fan of the band might be wondering what we’re up to, what we’re planning, so I thought I’d write this letter and fill you all in.

We’re living, decompressing- The Black Parade took over two years to tour and six months to make so that’s a lot of existing in a fictional world, and we’re just extremely happy to live in a real one for a while. One thing I can let you know is that we’re excited. Genuinely more excited than we have ever been to be in this band, make some new music. And we have ALL been writing new material in our own separate worlds… I started a week after I got home, buying a good rig, an old Jag, and a bunch of pedals- just searching for the next sound.

Bob is recovering well from his recent wrist surgery- exceedingly well considering how risky the procedure can be. We’re all really happy that when he picks up the sticks again he won’t be in the intense pain he was in during the last year of touring. It’s going to take him a while to rehabilitate but knowing him, he will most likely be playing the drums before the doctor says it’s a good idea. He just loves playing, we all do. Franks on the road with Leathermouth and Reggie and The Full Effect so you should go see them and get spit on. I know Leathermouth doesn’t have a record out yet, but Frank gave it to me in Mexico and I can easily say it’s my favorite post-hardcore record of the year, so I know you will at least enjoy the songs if you don’t know the words.

One of the best parts of the last five months was getting to see Ray get married and all of us be a part of the wedding. It was beautiful. I’m not sure where the happy couple is right now but I am sure wherever they are, they are really enjoying it. I have never seen him happier in my life.

So we made plans to get together soon and make some demos, see where our heads are at, take it slow. If explosions happen in our heads right away who knows how soon we could have a record out, we aren’t in any rush but we get just as anxious as you to find out what the next “thing” is going to be.

So that about wraps it up… I’m glad I could stop by for a chat, I think I will do it more often. I’m writing more comics, writing more music, and missing my wife right now. Oh, and I heard a rumor that I died in a car accident.

I didn’t.

xo.

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE AND MUSE FORCED TO CANCEL SHOWS ON CURRENT TOUR DUE TO SERIOUS ILLNESS FROM FOOD POISONING

My Chemical Romance and support act Muse deeply regret that they have had to cancel several dates on their current tour due to members of My Chemical Romance band and crew and members of Muse’s crew being struck with serious food poisoning.

The nationwide tour, supporting My Chemical Romance’s platinum album The Black Parade and Muse’s album, Black Holes and Revelations, was brought to a standstill on Sunday when several members of My Chemical Romance’s band and crew and members of Muse’s crew became violently ill after the show at William and Mary College in Williamsburg, VA. With multiple people scattered in hospitals between State College, PA and Columbus, OH, the bands were forced to cancel Sunday night’s show at the Bryce Jordan Center in State College, PA and postpone the show in Columbus, OH from Tuesday, May 1st to Wednesday, May 2nd, provided everyone has recovered. The show originally scheduled for tomorrow night at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, PA has been cancelled.

My Chemical Romance and Muse would like their fans to know that they hope to resume the tour as soon as possible. Tickets for the April 29th Bryce Jordan and May 2nd Pittsburgh show will be refunded at point of purchase and My Chemical Romance hope to make it back there before the end of the year.

*points at title* Yeah I have a screwed up sense of humour, if you do not like it well then stop reading the post titles 😀

Before I forget I finally posted my review of ‘The Black Parade’ over at my media review log. Head on over to check it out <3

Okay let’s run down the news of the week first off, Frank did not play in Japan as he had his wisdom teeth removed and became ill after the surgery, he is confirmed to be joining the tour in Australia, but no guarantees on New Zealand.

This week’s Kerrang! (Issue 1142) features a 12-page article on My Chemical Romance from their beginnings to the present. Check it out in your local bookstore, magazine shop, etc.
*waggles eyebrows at Kerrang! to send her a subscription…. waggles eyebrows at NME, Rock Sound, Blender as well*

Gerard Way, Reveals the Agonizing Break-Up that shaped “The Black Parade

This is not something I’ve ever told anyone else. I had been in a long-term relationship and it fell apart during the making of The Black Parade. I’m alone right now, for the first time in 10 years. That’s not something people know about me. It’s really hard. I’ve had girlfriends since I was 17 or 18. Now I’m 29
It wasn’t something that anybody did. It was a six year relationship that ended. It was practically marriage. It was with someone who knew me before the band. Halfway through recording-literally just when I had finished tracking the vocal parts and chorus line to Famous Last Words- I realized that line (‘I am not afraid to walk this world alone’) was the truth. I broke up with her a week later.
I had to fly back and talk to her, move my stuff out. It was brutal.
But I’ve been enjoying being free and not having to make phone calls. It’s a good feeling at first -but then you check into a hotel room and realize there’s no one who misses you like a girlfriend misses you. I’ll sit there and stare at the wall.
When we were on our last European run I would just go out at night and walk around alone, thinking, ‘Well this is interesting….’

Go to MCR’s official myspace, myspace.com/mychemicalromance and listen to the new single, “Welcome to The Black Parade”. This is not the VMA version it is the actual studio release, so go on now and listen up!

While you do that I am going to try and figure what the title of the Hammersmith Palais opener is actually.

Also, please please send your best to Bob since as per the previous post he is in the hospital battling a staph infection that occurred due to the burns he sustained from the video shoot earlier this past month. Bob you are in our thoughts and prayers, please get well soon so we may be able to show our gratitude and adoration for you all when you get back on tour. Just be careful not to rush yourself into getting well, make sure that you do what is best for you, we will still all be waiting here for you with open arms and hugs and hands ready for slapping cameras. <3 <3
